COMMUNITY RESOURCES
We support community groups on the ground bringing empty homes back into use. Soon, we will have a dedicated Community Area but in the meantime, please find below some resources that may help you or your community to take action on empty homes.
In the Community Action on Empty Homes Report we share our learning from studying six projects, each at different stages of development but all employing community-based approaches to bringing empty homes into use. It aims to encourage others to form community-based partnerships, to bring empty homes into use for local people and through doing so to help address the persistent underlying issues that keep people locked into poor housing and locked out of a safe, secure and affordable home.
The Legal Toolkit offers insights into using the law to best effect to get empty homes back into use - it is a short guide on the legal options available to local authorities and those working in partnership with local authorities.
The Community Action Toolkit aims to guide local authorities and communities working together through the process of bringing empty homes into use, to deliver affordable housing for local people. We highlight the opportunity for new conversations and new ways of thinking, building creative partnerships to deliver lasting change.
